"U.S. President’s special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will not participate in the new round of negotiations on settling the war in Ukraine", - writes "VОТ TAK", citing a statement by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio made during hearings before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
He recalled that the talks in Abu Dhabi on January 23–24 were the first meeting in several years held in a trilateral format.
"Jared and Steve Witkoff were there, as well as representatives of russia and Ukraine. It was planned to continue negotiations on this issue this week, already in a bilateral format. There may be U.S. participation, but it will not be Steve and not Jared", - the secretary of state said.
The White House representative did not explain why they will not take part in the negotiations.
As reported, a new round of talks in a three-party format may take place on February 1, 2026.
