“As a result of a missile-and-drone attack by russia on the capital on the night of January 24, facilities of the National Preserve ‘Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra’, which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, were damaged. The preserve says that Building No. 66 — the entrance part to the complex of the Far Caves — and Building No. 67 (the Annunciation Church) were damaged”, - TSN reported on January 26.

It is now known that the facilities of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra were damaged by a russian Shahed UAV during the night attack on January 24.

Police were immediately called to the site where the debris fell, and after that specialists who work with the Lavra’s caves arrived there, because the debris fell right at their entrance, and the underground structures could have been affected by the explosion.

“Specialists are currently examining the damaged areas. The entrance to the Far Caves is closed, although they have been closed for a long time already. But in fact, everything is not as bad as it could have been”, - the preserve told TSN.ua.

They add that later the general director of the preserve, Maksym Ostapenko, will show the damaged sites and provide more details regarding the attack and the condition of the sites that are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
