“When you ask about the final version of the peace plan — I do not know what the ‘final version of the russia peace plan’ is. There is a plan that the United States discussed with us and is discussing with the russians. The final version of any plan is an agreed version. So far, there is no agreed version of the plan”, - Zelensky explained while speaking with journalists on the way to Brussels, NV reports.
Commenting on whether it is possible to disclose the details of the security guarantees proposed by the Americans, the president clarified that Ukraine has agreed with the United States “not to publicly discuss the details of weapons and other matters […] until this document is finalized”.
“We are working on security guarantees with the United States of America. For us, the key principles are that this be voted on in the U.S. Congress, that these be legally binding guarantees. Second — that this be NATO’s Article Five. Third — that we know how partners will respond in the event of a повторение of russia’s aggression”, - he emphasized.
Zelensky confirmed that this concerns “details regarding armaments, strengthening our army, the size of the Ukrainian army”. “You know that it [the size of the Armed Forces of Ukraine] must be at least 800,000 and remain so”, - the president added.
Answering a question about when he plans to discuss the peace plan with U.S. President Donald Trump, Zelensky explained: “We spoke with him two days ago in Berlin, and it was a kind of briefing on how our negotiations went. I think now, when we have the finalization of the documents, we will get in touch”.
In the same conversation with journalists, Zelensky explained that disagreements still remain in the negotiations, in particular on issues of territories and frozen assets of russia.
