“US Secretary of the Army Driscoll met for several hours with members of the russian delegation [on Monday evening] in Abu Dhabi. He plans to meet with them again during the day [on Tuesday] to discuss the peace process and accelerate the progress of peace negotiations”, - a US representative told CBS News.
It is still unknown who else is part of the US delegation in Abu Dhabi.
According to Politico, citing a senior US official, Driscoll will present the russian side with the plan to end the war, agreed on Sunday between the US and Ukraine. This is a shortened version of the original plan.
Now it contains “about 19 points”, Politico clarifies, while Donbass and other territorial issues will be discussed in a personal meeting between Presidents Trump and Zelensky.
It is also reported that kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov called the US plan to end the war in Ukraine, which was published last week by several Western media outlets, “a draft from the US side”.
At the same time, the kremlin representative clarified that some corrections are now being made to the published text: “We understand that the text that unofficially reached us earlier has already undergone changes”.
