“According to the European Commission, there are currently about 4.7 million Ukrainian refugees residing in the European Union. We are talking about 4.7 million Ukrainians who are now under temporary protection in EU member states. And this number is growing right now”, - said the EU Special Representative for Ukrainian Affairs Ylva Johansson, as reported by European Pravda.
She noted that, in fact, “new people arrive in our member states every week and apply for temporary protection”.
“Therefore, the numbers continue to grow. However, temporary protection must remain temporary”, - emphasized the EU Special Representative for Ukrainian Affairs.
“Now we are focusing on this new phase we are entering – the transition from temporary protection to a new stage. And what is this new stage? I would say we are moving from protection to partnership. We are moving from... refugee status to the formation of a diaspora”, - Johansson emphasized.
