"While filming with a Ukrainian air defense unit, our team came under attack by a russian Lancet drone, which was targeting the Ukrainian team we were working with. One of the three soldiers, Kostiantyn, was killed; another, Ihor, was so heavily wounded that one of his legs had to be amputated. My thoughts are with them and their families. We have started a fundraiser to support Ihor’s long and complicated rehabilitation — any help would mean a lot", - wrote Die Welt journalist Ibrahim Naber (pictured) on his Instagram page.
According to him, the russian strike occurred in eastern Ukraine, about 25–30 kilometers from the front line.
"We were a few meters away from the three-man crew when the drone hit — we had just finished an interview with Kostiantyn. The soldiers had been out on duty, as on countless nights before, shooting down long-range drones that russia uses to attack Ukrainian cities. They saved many lives — before the attack hit them", - the journalist noted.
