“Ukraine is facing its fourth winter of war, and now russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine’s energy supply, putting the provision of electricity and heat during winter at great risk”, - said German Minister of Economy Katharina Reiche upon arriving in the Ukrainian capital, writes European Pravda.
According to Reiche, urgent assistance is needed for the restoration and maintenance of the energy supply, and she promised that during her visit she would determine how Germany can provide more concrete and effective support in this area.
In addition to preserving and restoring Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, the main focus of the visit will be on expanding German-Ukrainian cooperation in the field of defense.
“Security policy is always also economic policy”, - said Reiche, adding that her goal is to bring German and Ukrainian defense companies closer together.
