Confiscation of “ownerless” housing in occupied Mariupol is “moving at an accelerated pace” 08/08/2025 12:17:08. Total views 96. Views today — 3.

This follows from a statement by the “mayor” of the seaside city, Oleg Koltsov. A russian official, dispatched by the kremlin to run Mariupol, told local residents during a personal reception that “progress in the housing queue (for those who lost their roof over their heads due to russian aggression – OstroV) will noticeably speed up with the start of issuing housing from the municipal housing fund”.

He recalled that this fund is formed from property transferred to the ownership of the city, recognized as “ownerless”. “The process of its formation is moving at an accelerated pace today”, - the gauleiter of Mariupol assured.

His words are confirmed by regularly published announcements about the discovery of ever more “nobody’s” houses and apartments. For example, on Wednesday, a list of 101 addresses of “ownerless” housing was announced.

“Citizens who find their real estate listed in the stated announcement must, within 30 days from the date of its publication, contact the Housing and Utilities Department of the Administration of the Mariupol urban district”, - the occupiers pretend that the issue of confiscating someone else’s property is being resolved within the framework of the law.

In reality, proving one’s right to houses and apartments is practically impossible. First of all, because in most cases the property of Mariupol residents who left abroad due to the arrival of the “russian world” is declared “ownerless”. They have no access to the russian “government services” portal, where the “blacklists” are published. In addition, even legal owners who learn about the problem are unlikely to be able to reach Mariupol within the specified 30-day period, since the only way to get to their hometown is through the russian Sheremetyevo airport, where most Ukrainians are denied entry.

Earlier, “mayor” Koltsov claimed that more than 4,500 Mariupol residents were in line for compensation housing. Construction of new homes for them is not planned – apartments will be issued to them from the “municipal housing fund”.
