This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in an interview with Fox Business, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
"We have a better understanding of the conditions under which russia will be ready to end the war. Now we will need to compare that with what the Europeans will agree to and what the Ukrainians will be ready for. We need to figure out how to bring these positions closer together. If we manage to bring what the russians want and what the Ukrainians want close enough, then the president will have the opportunity to hold a meeting involving both putin and Zelensky", - the U.S. Secretary of State noted.
He also emphasized that territorial issues may become key and that a ceasefire should take place at a certain stage of negotiations.
"You know, there are territories that russia has seized and that they now control, and that includes Crimea, which was seized back in 2014, and some other areas where they have achieved certain successes. Every time you make an agreement, concessions will be necessary. Concessions will be necessary from the russians and from the Ukrainians as well, of course. It’s complicated", - Rubio stressed.
As reported, Trump gave the order for his team to quickly prepare meetings with putin and Zelensky.
