Donald Trump called putin a "very smart political figure" and expressed confidence that an agreement on Ukraine could be reached. He said this on February 26.
"Ukraine needs to forget about NATO because that is probably the reason the war started", - Trump said.
At the same time, according to him, putin will have to make some concessions.
Donald Trump also stated that he would not give Ukraine "too many security guarantees", suggesting that European countries should take on this responsibility due to their geographical proximity.
Additionally, Trump said that the U.S. is ready to lift sanctions against russia, but only after a peaceful resolution in Ukraine is achieved.
It was previously reported that Trump confirmed Zelensky’s visit to Washington this Friday.
