Automatic lustration will not affect trank and file employees of public authorities, teachers and village heads. Minister of Justice Pavel Petrenko told that on the ICTV TV channel, - reportsRBC-Ukraine.

On Thursday, June 16th the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (VRU) may introduce a draft law with amendments to the law on cleansing authorities which takes into account the comments of the Venice Commission.

According to the Minister, according to the law "On cleansing authorities" the automatic lustration affectsl only those officials who were illegally appointed by ex-president Viktor Yanukovych and were involved in human rights violations during the Revolution of Dignity.

"In fact, it is not automatic lustration because the law clearly defined positions of high officials who Yanukovych appointed during his term, those officials whom he appointed by his decrees in violation of the Constitution because he got the powers to which he was not elected but by an illegal decision of the Constitutional Court," - said Petrenko.

The Minister also noted that law on cleansing authorities does not apply to rank and file officers of public authorities, teachers and village heads.

"Secondly, the law applies to those individuals who have been directly involved in human rights violations during the Revolution of Dignity. Those prosecutors, judges and law enforcement officers who fabricated the cases, who threw half-dead people in jails," - said Petrenko.

In addition, the head of the Ministry of Justice said that the law had anti-corruption component which dealt with checking the property status of officials.

"Here an individual approach is applied to each civil servant, in the first place - the highest civil servant," - said Petrenko.
