In the Ukrainian Air Force, the effectiveness of mobile air defense groups, which are tasked with destroying Shahed drones launched by russia almost every night over Ukraine, has been highlighted. Yuriy Ihnat, the spokesperson for the Air Force, mentioned this during a national Ukrainian TV news marathon broadcast on December 18.
"The mobile air defense groups have started working. They have been operational before, but now they are more effective. We see that both the volunteer community and the state have joined forces to equip these units with an adequate number of means of transportation. This includes vehicles and technical equipment that help destroy enemy UAVs", - he noted.
Ihnat added that kamikaze drones constantly change routes to avoid being shot down by mobile groups, but these groups remain effective and have gained combat experience.
