Counterintelligence and investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) thwarted the plans of the russian FSB to eliminate the President of Ukraine and other senior military and political leaders of the state. This was reported by the SBU on May 7th on Telegram.

"The implementation of the plans was supposed to be carried out by an agent network, which was previously exposed by the Security Service of Ukraine with the assistance of the leadership of the State Guard Service. The network, whose activities were supervised by the FSB from moscow, included two colonels of the State Guard Service who were leaking classified information to russia. Thus, the enemy actively developed plans to eliminate President Volodymyr Zelensky. One of the tasks of the FSB agent network was to find executioners among the military personnel close to the President's security detail who could take the Head of State hostage and then kill him", - the statement said.

"In addition to Volodymyr Zelensky, the enemy planned to eliminate the head of the SBU Vasyl Maliuk, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) Kyrylo Budanov, and other high-ranking officials. For example, they planned to carry out the liquidation of Budanov before Easter. The enemy's plan was as follows: first, the recruited agent was to observe the movements of the person under guard and pass information to the enemy. Based on the coordinates of the house where the official was supposed to be located, a missile strike was planned. Then, drone attacks were planned on the people remaining at the site of the attack. After that, the russians planned to hit with another missile, including to destroy evidence of drone usage", - the SBU noted.

It is reported that the weapons for the agent were provided by a colonel of the State Guard Service, who personally brought FPV drones, RPG-7 charges, and MON-90 anti-personnel mines to Kyiv.

The SBU recorded both the trips of the State Guard Service colonel for drones and explosives to another region of Ukraine and the conversations of a potential perpetrator of the terrorist act with an FSB "curator". The Security Service of Ukraine systematically documented the criminal actions of the suspects and detained them.

"A limited circle of individuals was aware of our special operation, and I personally supervised its progress. The terrorist act, which was supposed to be a gift to putin for his inauguration, actually turned out to be a failure for the russian special services. But we must not forget - the enemy is strong and experienced, and cannot be underestimated. We will continue to work proactively to ensure that every traitor receives the deserved judicial sentences", - said the head of the SBU, Vasyl Maliuk.

The SBU emphasizes that "the FSB of the russian federation once again confirmed its status as a terrorist organization, as it was precisely the employees of the 9th Directorate of the Operational Information Department of the 5th Service that supervised the organization of the terrorist act. These individuals are Maxim Mishustin, Dmitry Perlin, and Alexey Kornev.

"In particular, Perlin became the curator of the "moles" in January 2022, who were recruited even before the full-scale invasion by russia. By that time, they were "handled" by his colleague Alexey Kornev. Thus, before the start of the full-scale war, Kornev held a series of clandestine meetings with a colonel of the State Guard Service on the territory of neighboring European countries. Funds for agents were also usually transferred abroad. Searches were conducted among the perpetrators, during which the appropriate means of attack were discovered and seized, as well as other evidence of criminal activity", - the SBU reported.

"They are currently informed of the suspicion under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 2 of Article 111 (state treason committed in conditions of martial law); Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 258 (preparation for a terrorist act). The measure of restraint chosen for the suspects is detention. The suspects face life imprisonment. Comprehensive actions were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General's Office", - the SBU stated.
