Ukraine will have the right to carry out strikes with F-16 fighters on military targets of the russian federation outside the country. This was announced by the NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, published on February 22.

"I think we have to listen to the military experts exactly when we will be ready to or when allies will be ready to start sending and delivering the F-16s. The sooner the better", - said the NATO Secretary-General, emphasizing that russia is conducting an aggressive war against Ukraine, and Kyiv has the right to self-defense, including strikes on legitimate russian military targets outside the country.

Stoltenberg emphasized that each ally will decide whether to supply F-16s to Ukraine, and different countries have different policies in this regard.

He also noted that it is impossible to say exactly when Ukraine will be able to deploy F-16 fighters. According to him, allied countries want the transfer of aircraft to happen as soon as possible. However, the impact of receiving F-16s will be stronger if pilots, maintenance crews, and other support staff are well-trained.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine could receive F-16 fighters in June.
