The Conference of Presidents of the European Parliament publicly expressed its endorsement for the European Council to confirm the start of negotiations on Ukraine's EU membership, as reported by the European Pravda with reference to President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola on November 28.

The president of the European Parliament said Ukraine is making impressive efforts to implement reforms and that the Conference of Presidents of the European Parliament confirmed today that Ukraine has demonstrated a solid basis for opening accession talks.

Metsola emphasised that the process of the country's accession to the European Union is not only the transfer of European laws and regulations into national legislation, but this process requires changes in the country's society.

The Conference of Presidents noted in its statement that it believes that Ukraine will continue to ambitiously implement all necessary reforms to complete the implementation of the European Commission's recommendations in order to open accession talks as soon as possible.

"Ukraine is and will remain a priority for the European Parliament. Ukraine can count on the restless effort and commitment to uphold the legitimate ambitions and aspirations of the Ukrainian people", - the statement said.

It was previously reported that the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU may be postponed to March.
