The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny are among the nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize. This was reported by Sky News on September 29th.
"It's one week until the winner of this year's Nobel peace prize is announced. Among the contenders this year are Volodymyr Zelensky and jailed kremlin critic Alexei Navalny - who this week lost his appeal against a 19-year prison sentence", - the publication reports.
They are some of the favourites among the 351 nominees, but experts suggest their odds are low, especially as Zelensky is a wartime leader and the committee's focus on russia last year affects both men's chances.
The winner will be officially announced on next Friday, with the ceremony planned for 10 December at Oslo City Hall.
As previously reported, a Ukrainian actress received the Septimius Awards in the category of "Best European Actress".
