The court has imposed a preventive measure of detention with an alternative of posting bail in the amount of over 107 million hryvnias for the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Vsevolod Kniazev. This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.

"The investigative judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court partially granted the request of the detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, as agreed upon by the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, and imposed a preventive measure of detention with an alternative of 107.36 million hryvnias bail for the former Chairman of the Supreme Court", - the statement said.

It is noted that the duration of the preventive measure is until July 14, inclusive.

"In the event of posting bail, the suspect will be subject to a number of procedural obligations. The court ordered the suspect to be taken into custody in the courtroom", - the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office added.

As reported, on May 15, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office announced the exposure of a scheme involving illicit benefits received by the leadership and judges of the Supreme Court. Law enforcement officers detained the head of the Supreme Court, Kniazev, and seized 2.7 million dollars.

The plenum of the Supreme Court expressed mistrust in Chief Justice Kniazev and prematurely revoked his status as the head of the court.

Later, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office reported that Kniazev and his accomplice, lawyer Oleh Horetsky, were suspected of bribery. The latter was remanded in custody until July 13, with the option of posting bail in the amount of 80 million hryvnias.
