The Joe Biden administration is asking Congress for an additional $37.7 billion to support Ukraine in its war with russia and $9.25 billion to fight COVID-19 as part of a request for additional funding. This was stated on Tuesday by representatives of the White House, - Voice of America reports.

"Congress has the ability and obligation to meet three additional and critical funding needs that must merit bipartisan support: protecting the American people from COVID-19 and saving lives around the world; supporting the people of Ukraine; and helping communities across the country rebuild from devastating natural disasters", - White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Shalanda Young stressed in a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The White House explained that funding for Ukraine during this fiscal year would be directed to defense assets, humanitarian assistance and nuclear security.

As reported, the United States will continue to support Ukraine in the face of russian aggression and will remain with the Ukrainian people for as long as necessary.
