The Biden administration denounces Russian President Vladimir Putin's use of a swearword song quote alluding to the rape of Ukraine as a mechanism to force it to comply with the Minsk agreements. This was stated by the White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki at a press briefing, - ZN.UA writes.
As previously reported, during a press conference following Russian-French talks, Putin said that Ukraine should adhere to the Minsk agreements. Commenting on the position of the President of Ukraine that he does not like all their points, Putin urged Kyiv "to muster up the courage and recognize what is written". "Whether you like it or don't, be patient, my beauty", - he quoted lines from a scabrous obscene song about how a good fellow raped a tsarevna sleeping in a coffin.
The White House reacted with indignation to the use of hints of sexual violence against Ukraine in the official statement of the Russian president. "Well, first of all, I would say that any joke about rape is for sure to outrage absolutely everyone in the Biden administration, regardless of whether it comes from the mouth of an American or foreign official. I will also note that we have never restrained our reactions about the militant rhetoric and the untruthfulness of some statements coming from the mouths of President Putin and representatives of the Russian leadership. And, of course, our admiration does not admire this "joke", - Psaki stated.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated that the Minsk agreements, which are based on direct dialogue between Ukraine and CADLO, cannot be implemented on Russian terms. The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also stressed that although "Minsk" is the base platform for resolving the situation in the Donbas, Ukraine will not comply with the agreements in the Russian interpretation, since they contradict Ukrainian national interests.
