The Cabinet of Ministers will allocate an additional $14.5 million to pay off wage arrears to miners. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at the government meeting today, - correspondent of OstroV reports.
"A fair transformation of coal regions is not about closing mines, but about creating new industries and new opportunities for business development, creating new infrastructure and social support programs for such regions. In addition, it is improving the environment and part of a project to decarbonize our economy", - he reported.
The prime minister noted that the start of the transformation of coal regions does not mean that the government will turn a blind eye to the social problems of the industry.
"An additional $14.5 million will be allocated today by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, which will be used to pay off wage arrears to Ukrainian miners. Since the beginning of the year, the government has already allocated more than $73 million for such payments", - Denys Shmyhal said.
