Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov has stated that it was impossible to amend the resolution on local elections. He stated this on the air of Pryamiy TV channel.
"In my opinion, the voted amendments to the resolution are impossible. I will explain why. Because we are returning to 90 days again. To amend the process which has already begun? It began just because the Verkhovna Rada made such a decision … The candidates were set up across the country yesterday, on Sunday. Someone held conferences and congresses on Saturday. That is, to amend this resolution today is to question the legitimacy of the elections. Why? Because elections are a sequence of actions. One thing follows the other", - Razumkov said.
As previously reported, the decree on local elections, which the Rada approved on July 15, provides that voting in the occupied territories can take place only after the end of the occupation, the withdrawal of all illegal armed formations from the territory of Ukraine and the restoration of control over the borders. These conditions for the elections were confirmed by the President's Office. Representatives of Russia at the talks in Minsk and in the Normandy format are seeking from Ukraine to amend the resolution. Head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak also reckons on the fact that the Verkhovna Rada will amend the resolution on the calling of local elections.
Head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group at the talks in Minsk Leonid Kravchuk believes that Russia and representatives of the CADLO formations will block all the work of the TCG, if the Ukrainian parliament does not change the resolution.
