Four people were killed and 9 more were hospitalized as a result of dry grass and forest fires in the territory of Novoaidarsk district of the Luhansk oblast, - the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reports.

As of 9 a.m. on July 8, according to updated data, the bodies of 4 dead were found during the fire extinguishing and 9 people (of which 2 children) were hospitalized.

Along with that, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is visiting the Luhansk oblast today, 5 people died as a result of fires.

This information was confirmed by head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Serhiy Haidai. According to him, the body of the fifth dead was found several hours ago.

"I want to express condolences to all the families that lost relatives and friends as a result of the fire. At present, there is information about 5 people, but so far, this information is incomplete. I think that we will have 100% information by the end of the day", - he said.

According to the president, 24 houses were destroyed as a result of the fire, and 59 houses have complex damage.

Zelensky noted that the government would provide 300 thousand UAH to each family that lost a house as a result of fires.

Forces of the State Emergency Service evacuated 30 people (including 13 children) from residential buildings of Smolianynove village and cottage building co-operative Wolf Lake, 30 other people were resettled.

In total, 1 thousand 125 people and 201 units of equipment were involved in the extinguishing, of which 638 people and 140 units of equipment, including 2 AN-32P aircraft, from the State Emergency Service.

An emergency operations center, an emergency station and an emergency operations team are working at the scene of the fire.
