President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Leonid Kuchma as representative of Ukraine in the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk. He stated this today at a briefing in Kyiv, - correspondent of OstroV reports.

"Already on June 5, there will be the first meeting of a Trilateral Group led by Leonid Kuchma. I really wanted to appoint a professional person who is respected in Ukraine and abroad", - the President of Ukraine said.

"Where is the applause?", - Kuchma asked the journalists for fun.

Earlier, second president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma stated that he was completing work in the Trilateral Contact Group to resolve the situation in the Donbass in September 2018. Prior to that, he worked in a contact group in Minsk for more than four years. Kuchma explained his departure at that time by "reaching a critical age".
