Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz believes that the Russian-German gas pipeline Nord Stream II threatens the security of Ukraine and testifies to Germany's anti-European position. He said this in an interview to Handelsblatt German media, - Polish Radio reports.
"The gas pipeline eliminates the effect of sanctions, Nord Stream II kills Ukraine. When the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine is stopped, this country will lose not only a huge profit, but above all, a guarantee of protection against another Russian aggression", - the Polish Foreign Minister stated.
Jacek Czaputowicz expressed regret for the lack of common European position in this matter. "Poland, the USA and the European Commission represent the pro-European position, while Germany – anti-European. It is generally accepted in Germany that the European position is identical with the German one, but in the case of Nord Stream II, it is not so", the Polish Foreign Minister noted.
At the same time, he noted that in most cases, the policy of Poland and Germany regarding the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is similar. It is based on the rejection of the annexation of Crimea by Russia and intervention in the Donbass, recognition that Russia is the aggressor, and the actions of the Russian Federation against the Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait area are aggression.
