Yuriy Biriukov, adviser to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, stated that almost the entire "grey" zone in Donbass has been liberated from the Pro-Russian militants and is under control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He said this on the air of Priamyi TV channel, – Ukrayinska Pravda reports.
"Since that moment we started in May 2014, two-thirds of the (Donbass - ed.) territory have been liberated. Almost the entire "grey" zone has been liberated and brought under control", - Biriukov stated.
The concept of "grey zone" appeared in 2014 after signing of the Minsk Protocol. This is a neutral territory on both sides of the front line.
The Minsk agreements and instruction of the Cabinet of Ministers have a list of settlements along which the line of demarcation passes, respectively, which are located in the "grey zone". Legally, they are all controlled by Ukraine, in fact - not always.
