Special Representative of the U.S. State Department for Ukraine Kurt Volker does not believe that Ukraine will be able to return the territories that Russia has already occupied, but giving Kyiv lethal arms will be able to stop the further offensive of the aggressor. Such statement was made by the diplomat during his visit to the Donbass, - Dzerkalo Tyzhnia reports with reference to BBC.
"If Ukraine cannot hold its positions, it will be an invitation for new offensives, and the supply of such weapons will make it clear to Russia: you cannot get more without paying a high price", - Volker noted, adding that new sanctions against Russia could become such a price.
"Of course, the Ukrainians will not be able to return the territory already seized by Russia. Russia is too strong, but the price of further offensive for Russia has already grown, and it will grow even more", - the special representative concluded.
