Ukrainian border guards were not allowed to check two columns of trucks of the so-called 75th "humanitarian convoy" of the Russian Federation for the Donbass. This was stated by the assistant to the chairman of the State Border Service, the press-secretary of the department Oleh Slobodyan, Ukrinform reports.
"Since the Russian Federation once again violated the existing international and domestic norms regulating the procedure for dispatching humanitarian goods and representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross did not take part in their registration, representatives of the Ukrainian interdepartmental group carried out only visual observation without performing control functions. There are allegedly food kits, educational literature and stationery", - said Slobodyan.
At the same time, he noted that, given that the cargo was transported in closed packages, the consolidated group was not able to obtain true information about their content, nature and nomenclature.
The representative of the department said that the total load of cars averaged only 40-50%.
Earlier, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation claimed that "cars will be checked by Russian and Ukrainian representatives of customs and border services in accordance with international law on the delivery of humanitarian goods". The Russian side constantly refuses to provide Ukraine with information about the contents of the cargo, it often does not correspond to that indicated in the Russian documents. According to intelligence, "humanitarian convoys" deliver ammunition and weapons to the Donbass. Russia refuses to import "humanitarian aid" through the controlled sections of the Ukrainian-Russian, despite the demands of Ukraine.
