The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has dismissed the Head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeriya Hontareva.

342 MPs voted for the decision, according to news agency Zn.ua.

"My mission is fully accomplished, because the reforms have been carried out. The National Bank team has something to be proud of. We have restored macrofinance stability in the state”, - Hontareva said.

Today the parliament also plans to appoint Yakiv Smoliy as head of the NBU.

On January 18, President Petro Poroshenko nominated Smoliy for NBU head. At the same time, a resolution was issued to dismiss Hontareva.

As reported, on April 10, 2017, Hontareva tendered her resignation as NBU head. Since then she has been on vacation. She was appointed to the post by parliament on June 19, 2014.

On February 26, at a meeting of the conciliation council, Parliament Speaker Andriy Parubiy said that the question of the resignation of NBU head Hontareva and the appointment of Smoliy on this post, on Thursday, March 1, will take about one and a half hours, since it will be held in full procedure.
