In the "DNR" they said that their separatist mobile operator Phoenix had connected 30 base stations, which the militants had stolen from the Ukrainian network Lifecell, to its network. This was stated in the press service of the “Ministry of Communications of the DNR”.

"We have launched 30 base stations, which were formerly operating within the Lifecell network. They will relieve the resources of Phoenix in Donetsk and improve the quality of communication", - the press service quoted “Minister of Communications of the DNR” Viktor Yatsenko as saying.

As previously reported, the "DNR" mobile operator, illegally using the radio frequency resource of Ukraine, was created on the basis of equipment stolen from Kyivstar. Later the authorities "modernized" Phoenix operator by seizing the equipment of one more Ukrainian operator - Lifecell, whose services became inaccessible to the CDDLO from February 22, 2017.

On March 1, Ukrtelecom ceased providing mobile and Internet services in the uncontrolled part of the Donetsk oblast in connection with the company's office seizure by the militants.

On January 11, Vodafone (MTS) mobile communication was disconnected throughout the occupied territory of Donbass.
