The "DNR" leader Alexander Zakharchenko has indirectly confirmed that the pseudo-republic can receive weapons through unrecognized South Ossetia. This follows from his statement at a press conference today, - separatist media report.
"We were visited by the president (Anatoly Bibilov – ed) of the Republic of South Ossetia together with representatives of the Ministry of Defence. We worked at a number of documents on cooperation in military and banking sectors. In the near future, they will be sent for signing to the People's Council", — he said.
As previously reported, advisor to the "DNR" leader Alexander Kazakov predicts that if the situation worsens on the front, the militants will receive the most advanced weapons through South Ossetia. "The Donbass may have its own window - for example, South Ossetia, which will supply the DNR army with advanced weapons to counterbalance the "Canadian window"", - Kazakov wrote in social network, commenting on the facts of the USA and Canada's supply of arms for the AFU.
Russia controls the economy of the occupied part of Donbass through a puppet partially recognized South Ossetia. The Russian Federation, which together with Nicaragua, Venezuela and Nauru recognized the "republic", uses this circumstance to legalize dubious financial transactions. The unrecognized "republic of South Ossetia" traditionally serves as an intermediary for smuggling products, produced in the occupied territories, and illegal supplies of raw materials and equipment. South Ossetia has no own defence industry – the "republic" is fully equipped with Russian weapons.
