The authorities of the so-called "DNR" have ordered to register all Internet users in the occupied territory of the Donetsk oblast. This is stated in the "letter of recommendation" of the fake "Ministry of Communications".

In this letter, operators, providing Internet services, are "recommended" to collect and store subscriber's login information, data on their Internet access sessions, "as well as other information that allows to associate the requested IP address with a particular individual or entity".

The militants explain the need to control Internet users with "a significant number" of requests to the "Ministry of Communications" from "law enforcement agencies of the republic".

"We recommend keeping the minimum information for six months: this is the name, surname, e-mail address and contact phone number. If law enforcement bodies contact us and they have suspicions that a person with a certain IP address can be implicated in any offenses, we can contact the operators and identify who it is", - explained the “head of the telecommunications control department of the Ministry of Communications”.

According to him, the collection and storage of information about Internet users is a common practice in the world: "The introduction of this procedure in the Donetsk People's Republic is another step towards development of our state", - Khalepa concluded.
