The Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko stated that she sees no logic in the U.S. State Department's proposal to place the UN peacekeepers on the border of Russia and Ukraine. She said this, commenting on various options for the introduction of the UN peacekeepers in the conflict zone in the Donbass, - TASS reports.
"I see no logic in this proposal", - she said. Matviyenko recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian Foreign Ministry to ask the UN to place peacekeepers in the conflict zone on the contact line exclusively to protect the OSCE mission patrols.
"Naturally, peacekeepers will accompany them throughout the territory, but accompany, providing security. There is no other use of these peacekeepers", - Matviyenko convinced.
As it was previously reported, Ukrainian party, representatives of the USA and the EU believe that, first of all, peacekeepers should block the uncontrolled section of the Ukrainian-Russian border, through which Russia brings weapons and ammunition to the militants.
