The Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov has fired the police leadership in Dnipro and oblast after provocations during the May 9 celebration. He reported this on Facebook.

"An order was signed in the morning to release from office:

- the head of the police department of the Dnipropetrovsk oblast, the General Repeshko;

- the head of the city police department of Dnipro, the Colonel Bidylo;

- the corresponding deputies to ensure social security", – Avakov wrote.

He noted that an official investigation was instituted for what happened – for further study of the actions of police officers. A commission headed by the chairman of the internal security department of the National Police Koval was also sent to Dnipro.

"A special investigation team was set up and sent to Dnipro to investigate the actions of civilians and their coordinators within the framework of criminal prosecutions.

"I hope this lesson will be learned by the Dnipro police", – A.Avakov noted.

As previously reported, clashes had arisen between the veterans of ATO and the police in Dnipro on May 9 during a procession of the representatives of the Socialist Party and Opposition Bloc to the monument of Glory. The police used batons, several veterans of ATO were injured, an ambulance took one person with a broken head. According to the law enforcement officials, the conflict began because the socialists had marched a column with pink flags of their party. They did not react to the request to remove them. Several veterans of ATO had stopped the column of the Opposition Bloc, which went to the monument of Glory with blue balloons. There was a skirmish between the veterans of ATO and athletic men. 15 people were delivered to the police departments. 14 people were injured – 8 participants of the event and 6 policemen.
