The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses its strong protest against the call of Crimeans to the occupation army. This was reported by the press service of the MFA.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed strong protest of the Russian Federation in connection with its intention to call for military service in the temporarily occupied territory of the AR of Crimea and Sevastopol", - the official statement said.
The department reminds that this is prohibited by the UN General Assembly resolution which established the fact of Russia's illegal occupation of Crimea.
"In this context, a demand to cancel the calling up of citizens who live in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol for military service was expressed, as well as to ensure the strict observance by the Russian party of its international obligations", - the MFA emphasizes.
As previously reported, a calling up for military service began in Russia on April 1, during which Crimeans will be forced to serve in all regions of the Russian Federation, and not just on the peninsula, as before.
