The ex-leader of the "LPR" Valeriy Bolotov died. This was stated by the former so-called "prime minister of the DPR" Oleksandr Boroday and confirmed by a source close to Bolotov, - RBK reports.
According to Boroday, he learned about the death of Bolotov from his family, adding that he is not aware of the details of death. The source close to Bolotov confirmed the death of the former leader of the "LPR" on January 27. According to the edition, causes of Bolotov’s death are being investigated.
"Bolotov was the first head of the Luhansk People's Republic, and was a member of the Union of Donbass volunteers. As the head of the Union, I express my deepest condolences to his family and friends. I can not say that we were closely acquainted during the events of 2014, but nevertheless it was a man who made significant contribution to the formation of the LPR", - Boroday stated.
V.Bolotov was one of the leaders of the separatist movement in Luhansk. On April 21, 2014, he proclaimed himself the "people's governor", and on May 18 was "elected" as the head of the "LPR". On August 14, he was forced to resign and leave to Moscow.
