Zelensky: Without guarantors, russia could use a ceasefire to advance 20 km into some parts of Ukraine 06/09/2026 17:48:07. Total views 50. Views today — 50.

“The ideal solution in peace negotiations is to end the war urgently. At least to take the first step — an unconditional full ceasefire. This is important. A ceasefire is also a complex process. Yes, it is about political will and decisions, but at the same time, there are currently zones stretching 20, 30, or 40 kilometers. If there are no guarantors and no monitoring of the ceasefire, russia could take advantage of this and advance 20 kilometers in some parts of Ukraine. That is a major risk. That is why we say: no conditions for a ceasefire”, - President Zelensky said while speaking with the media alongside Estonian President Alar Karis on June 9.

Zelensky expressed confidence that, in order to achieve a ceasefire, “...it would be better to have a meeting at the level of leaders: Ukraine, russia, certainly Europe, and the United States of America”.

“Ukraine has the will for all of this. We will see whether russia has such a will. So far, they have not demonstrated it”, - Zelensky also noted.
