The United States has temporarily exempted from sanctions the sale of russian oil and petroleum products that were loaded onto vessels before March 12. The corresponding license was issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Treasury (OFAC) and published on its website.
It is noted that the permission will be valid for one month — until April 12.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent clarified on the X network that the goal of this measure is to strengthen stability in global energy markets. Bessent noted that the temporary lifting of sanctions “will not bring significant financial benefit to the russian government, which receives most of its energy revenues from taxes collected at the site of extraction”.
As noted by the special representative of the president of the russian federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the russian direct investment fund Kirill Dmitriev, the lifting of restrictions will affect about 100 million barrels of fuel. According to Fox News, about 124 million barrels of oil of russian origin are currently in transit.
“Trump provided putin with at least $8 billion for the further genocidal war against Ukraine”, - commented the situation “Operatyvnyi ZSU” Telegram channel.
