“International Monetary Fund chief Kristalina Georgieva arrived in Kyiv early on Thursday for high-level talks, two sources familiar with the matter said, as Ukraine prepares to mark the fourth anniversary of russia's full-scale invasion on February 24”, - Reuters wrote on January 15, citing its own sources.

One of the sources said that during the visit the IMF Managing Director is expected to meet with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, central bank governor Andriy Pyshnyi, and business leaders.

The last time the IMF chief visited Ukraine was in February 2023.

Reuters notes that Georgieva has family ties to Ukraine: her brother is married to a Ukrainian woman and was in Kharkiv at the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion.
