"Today, a 5G pilot was launched in the center of Lviv. The main advantage of this technology is data transmission speed — about 500 Mbps. Lviv is becoming a technological laboratory that will help us work through all technical aspects before the national launch. The city has one of the highest penetration rates of 5G-ready smartphones in Ukraine. Currently, 20+ 5G base stations have been built in Lviv", - First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov reported on Telegram on January 12.

“After coordination with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and successful testing of the technology — we will scale the pilot. In January, 5G will start operating in Borodianka, in February — in Kharkiv, and then in other cities of Ukraine”, - the First Vice Prime Minister noted.

"Since the creation of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the field of electronic communications has been our priority. We planned to fully launch the technology in 2022, however, the full-scale war forced us to postpone these plans for security reasons. At the same time, we did not stop our work. The launch of the 5G pilot is the result of systematic cooperation between the state, business, and the military. While the enemy is trying to destroy our infrastructure, we continue to modernize and build Ukraine based on the most advanced technologies. The launch of the 5G pilot is a clear signal to the world that Ukraine is moving into the future", - Fedorov emphasized.
