“Railway connections between the DNR and Rostov oblast are planned to be established in the coming months”, - the so-called “ministry of transport of the republic” said in a statement.
It is noted that the authorities have already “begun developing technical regulations that will form the basis for the resumption of suburban railway service”.
Promises by the occupation authorities to launch railway connections at least with a neighboring oblast of russia have been heard for a long time. Back in March 2024, russian railways stated that they would fully put into operation a railway line from Rostov to Crimea via the “DNR”. Donetsk authorities promised that in the summer of 2025 they would organize direct suburban railway service between occupied Donetsk and russia’s Rostov oblast.
