“As for withdrawing from Donbas: it is not news that russia wants this. In their dreams, they want us not to exist at all on the territory of our country. These dreams are not new. But we have our own land, our own territorial integrity, our own state, and our own interests. We will act in accordance with the interests of Ukraine”, - President Zelensky stated on Telegram on December 29 following a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Zelensky also reported that during the meeting with President Trump they reached the following: “The President of the United States confirmed strong security guarantees. All the details that we had been working on before — our technical teams, negotiating teams, regarding the details of security guarantees — he confirmed them and confirmed that they will be voted on in the Congress of the United States of America. This is a very strong agreement”.
According to Zelensky, he and Trump also discussed a support package for Ukraine’s recovery after the end of the war. It is noted that this is an economic package.
“This involves American business activity, special conditions for the development and recovery of Ukraine, and the development of a free trade agreement with the United States of America. The U.S. President also confirmed this. And we are getting as close as possible to another result within the 20-point plan”, - Zelensky noted.
