“At a certain moment after the signing of the agreement or in the process of implementing the agreement, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will be able to vote on the date of the presidential elections of Ukraine… We do not see a problem in this”, - President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky told journalists.
If security conditions are created and conditions for democratic standards are ensured, it will be possible to speak about shortened timeframes for holding elections, he noted.
But the elections, in his opinion, should not be held so that russia can achieve through them what it failed to achieve by war. “Ukraine can hold elections and do so in the interests of Ukraine as a democratic country. There should be no doubts among partners about Ukraine — especially on the issue of elections”, - the head of state summarized.
As OstroV wrote, political scientist Ihor Chalenko is confident that the kremlin is promoting the idea of presidential elections in order to destabilize the situation in Ukraine.
