“The United States and russia held another round of negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine. The main negotiators speak about the outcome with cautious optimism”, - the Telegram channel “BILD na russkom” reported on December 22.
It is noted that the U.S. president’s special envoy Steve Witkoff wrote on X that russia is striving for peace and “highly appreciates the efforts and support” of the States in resolving the conflict. He called the talks with putin’s envoy Kirill Dmitriev “productive and constructive”.
Dmitriev posted a photo of himself on X against the backdrop of a beach in Miami and wrote “Thank you, Miami. Next time in Moscow”. The same putin quote appears on Dmitriev’s T-shirt (“Next time in Moscow” is what putin told Trump in August during a press approach in Anchorage). Dmitriev also described the talks as “constructive”.

At the same time, foreign media unofficially report that the talks have “reached a dead end” — primarily due to unresolved issues regarding territories and security guarantees.
