“The projected number of residents, which currently stands at 1 million 712.1 thousand people, will increase to 1 million 825.8 thousand people by 2030 and to 1 million 926.5 thousand people within the planning horizon up to 2045”, - states the territorial development scheme of the “LNR”, prepared by the russian Unified Institute of Spatial Planning.
This, according to russian specialists, significant population growth in the occupied territories of the Luhansk oblast is “expected to be achieved by increasing the attractiveness of the territory and the growth in the number of places of employment due to industrial growth”.
For comparison, as of January 1, 2013, the last pre-war year, the permanent population of the Luhansk oblast according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine amounted to 2 million 334 thousand residents, that is, 400 thousand more than planned by the russian occupiers.
