President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced achievements by Ukrainian forces in the Kupiansk direction. He reported this on his Telegram channel.
“Today I’m at the Kupiansk direction, visiting our warriors who are achieving results for Ukraine here. The russians talked a lot about Kupiansk. I was there, I congratulated our guys. I thank every unit, everyone fighting here, everyone destroying the occupier”, - Zelensky wrote.
According to him, the successes of the Defense Forces on the battlefield directly affect Ukraine’s capabilities in negotiations on ending the war.
“Today it is extremely important to achieve results at the front so that Ukraine can achieve results in diplomacy. That is how it works: all our strong positions within the country are strong positions in the conversation about ending the war”, - the president noted.
At the same time, russian media report a worsening situation for the enemy troops in Kupiansk. According to their claims, “in recent days the situation in Kupiansk has seriously escalated”, and Ukrainian forces, taking advantage of the “insufficient consolidation of russian forces in the city against the backdrop of triumphant reports about its complete capture”, launched counterattacks.
According to these sources, the AFU allegedly retook part of the high-rise district of the Yubileinyi neighborhood on the southwestern outskirts of the city and began advancing to the northwestern outskirts of Kupiansk from the direction of the settlements of Moskovka and Radkivka. The goal of such actions, according to russian media, is to cut off the enemy troop grouping in the central part of the city from logistics, particularly due to complicated communication between districts located on different sides of the Oskil River.
