“Such rapid accession to the EU worries some member states, but the White House believes it can overcome Hungary’s resistance. Unnamed American and Ukrainian officials told this to The Washington Post (WP)”, - the Telegram channel “Nastoyashchee Vremya” reported on December 10.
According to WP, Ukraine may also conclude two separate security guarantee agreements: one with the United States, and another with the European Union.
The two main contentious topics in the discussion of the “peace plan” remain limits on the size of the Ukrainian army and territorial concessions, WP writes.
The American side insists that Kyiv should cede to russia the non-occupied part of Donbas — Washington believes that Ukraine will most likely lose most of this land in battles over the next six months. The U.S. considers that these territories could be turned into a demilitarized zone following the “Korean model”.
In addition, American negotiators propose $100 billion in reparations for Kyiv, to be taken from frozen russian assets in Europe.
The U.S. may also revive the creation of the Ukrainian Development Fund, which aims to attract up to $400 billion for the country’s reconstruction, the report says.
