The European Union continues to insist on the need for full accountability of russia for its crimes against Ukraine and, in particular, on the speedy completion of the creation of a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine (the so-called “tribunal for putin”), said EU Commissioner for Justice Michael McGrath, reports European Pravda on December 9.

The European Union wants to finalize as soon as possible the creation of the special tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine, which concerns the order of the kremlin’s ruler, vladimir putin, to attack Ukraine.

“First of all, the position of the European Union will continue to be that there must be full accountability for russia’s crimes in Ukraine. This is our position, and it will remain our position”, - McGrath said.

He called it “vitally important” to ensure that “the rights of those who are victims of the crime of aggression committed by russia are restored and that they receive justice”.

“That is why we will move as quickly as possible with our international partners toward the official establishment of the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine”, - the commissioner stated.

He added that “next week will be a very important milestone” in this process: the European Union plans to join the creation of the “tribunal for putin”.

“The European Commission is preparing a proposal to sign an expanded partial agreement on the Special Tribunal with the aim of becoming one of its founding members. Today I urged the member states to do the same”, - Michael McGrath emphasized.
