The issue of security guarantees for Ukraine is one of the main priorities on today’s agenda.
Before the meeting began, Starmer said that the leaders would, in particular, discuss security guarantees for Ukraine.
“We four will have the opportunity to discuss various aspects of the peace plan, to do so privately and to make progress. It is important to remember that this conflict has lasted almost four years, that russia is the aggressor, and therefore, if there is to be a ceasefire, it must be a just one — because Ukraine has suffered great losses and paid a very high price for a war that was not of its making. It (the ceasefire — OstroV) must also be lasting, because we know that putin does not respect agreements that lack clear security guarantees, and that is exactly what we will focus on”, - Starmer said.
