Russia has not established full control over Pokrovsk, and fighting inside the city continues along the railway line. Military expert Roman Svitan told this in a comment to OstroV.
“Russians are very far from full control of Pokrovsk. There are two locations — Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad. Our troops are present in both. In Pokrovsk, the russians hold the southern part of the city up to the railway, we control the north”, - he said.
According to the expert, the battles are dynamic, and the line of contact essentially runs along the railway tracks.
“In urban battles, there is no clear front line. Today the fighting is on one street, tomorrow on another. Sometimes the line of contact shifts during the day. But overall, the reference point is the railway: the russians hold the south, we hold the north”, - Svitan explained.
He reported that the situation in Myrnohrad remains difficult due to attempts by russian forces to advance from Krasnyi Lyman and cut the communication with Pokrovsk.
“If this pincer stretching from Krasnyi Lyman is not stopped soon, the Myrnohrad garrison will have to be withdrawn. If there is enough strength to push them back from Krasnyi Lyman and Rodynske, Myrnohrad will hold”, - the expert noted.
According to him, Pokrovsk is currently in a state of “dual control”, similar to Kupiansk and Vovchansk, where both sides are present in the city and conducting urban combat.
Roman Svitan emphasized that russian claims about “capturing” Pokrovsk have no basis and are aimed at information manipulation.
“So putin can say whatever he wants about full control. These are just words. They report to him that Pokrovsk has been taken because someone somewhere in the city center took a photo with a little flag. This should not be reacted to”, - he said.
