“It’s basically three fronts we have to defend on. But our guys are showing insane resilience, character, dedication, and are doing everything to destroy the enemy in huge numbers”, - said Rostyslav Yashchyshyn, head of the communications division of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, on the air of the national Ukrainian TV news marathon.
According to him, after unsuccessful attempts to advance toward Lyman in the Donetsk oblast from the eastern flank of the defense near the settlements of Torske and Zarichne, russian forces are trying to put pressure on the city from the north and south.
Russian troops are trying to infiltrate toward Lyman in small groups in order to “blur the line” of contact, Rostyslav Yashchyshyn said. The occupiers avoid “frontal” battles and wait for support.
“They tried before to advance on Torske and Zarichne. For a very long time they tried to break through, seize some footholds there. If I’m not mistaken, four times they reported to their high command that they had taken Torske. In reality, nothing of the sort”, - Yashchyshyn stressed.
